Department of Molecular Tumor Biology (Former Dept. of Molecular Bone Biology), Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Molecular Tumor Biology (formerly the Department of Molecular Bone Biology) was newly established in April 2012, and Kosei Ito and Ritsuko Masuyama (currently Professor, Ritsumeikan University), who were tenure-track faculty members (January 2008 - March 2012), were assigned. In January 2013, Kosei Ito was appointed as Professor, and the current organization has been developing research activities. In the education of the School of Dentistry, he is in charge of Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Experimental Biochemistry, and has taken over responsibility for the former Department of Oral Molecular Biochemistry from the 2021 academic year.

We aim to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of tumors/cancers through biochemical, molecular biological, and histological analyses of genetically engineered mice, which serve as animal models of human tumors/cancers, and through the analysis of mega-data using next-generation sequencers (NGS). Furthermore, we hope to realize clinical application of our obtained scientific findings in the form of drug discovery. For details, please refer to "Research" and "Achievements".

We are looking for researchers who are willing to work together with us to promote our cancer research. If you are interested in our research after reading this website, please feel free to contact us. We are looking for undergraduate students, residents, working graduate students, and those who are already enrolled in clinical graduate schools. We also welcome applications for JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships (PD) from those who have received (or will receive) degrees from other universities or universities overseas. Please do not hesitate to consult with us about everything from setting up a research project to preparing an application form.
